Cookie & Storage Policy

BrickBuddy doesn’t use traditional advertising or tracking cookies. Instead it stores a small amount of information in your browser’s local storage. Here’s exactly what, and why.

What we store

Counting visits without cookies

Separately from the above, we keep a simple count of how many times each page is loaded, so we can tell whether anyone is finding the site. This happens whether or not you accept the banner, because it stores nothing at all on your device — no cookie, no ID — and records nothing that identifies you.

What we record for a page view: the path you loaded (e.g. /cheap-cement) and, if you arrived from another website, that site’s domain name only (e.g. google.com) — never the full address you came from, since those can contain personal details. We do not store your IP address, your browser’s user-agent, or any ID that could link one page view to another. Your IP is used only for a moment, in memory, to stop automated flooding, and what we keep instead is a one-way scrambled value that is regenerated every day, so it cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next.

This is an aggregate hit counter, not analytics about you as a person, which is why it doesn’t require consent.

Your control

Analytics storage stays off until you click Accept on the banner. If you click Reject, no analytics ID or events are stored — the cookieless page count described above still runs, as it holds nothing about you. You can change your mind or wipe everything at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Third parties

We don’t load third-party tracking scripts, and BrickBuddy itself sets no third-party cookies. Your search location is sent live to OpenStreetMap services to find merchants (see the Privacy Policy).

Affiliate cookies (when our partnerships go live)

Our affiliate partnerships — with networks including Awin — are currently being set up. Once a merchant’s programme is live, clicking that merchant’s link takes you there via the network (for Awin, a brief redirect through awin1.com) with an anonymous click reference attached. The network and the merchant may then set cookies on their own domains so that a purchase can be attributed to BrickBuddy. These cookies are set by those third-party sites, not by BrickBuddy, and are governed by their own cookie policies; the exact cookie lifetime (“cookie window”) varies per merchant. Until a programme is live, merchant links are ordinary links and none of this applies. More in our Affiliate Disclosure.
